While TCU might technically be a year ahead of schedule, the Sooners have been a slight disappointment to this point in 2016. With two All-American candidates (Sheldon Neuse and Alec Hansen), it was thought that they may be able to compete in a wide-open Big XII this season, but that no longer seems to be the case. Neuse has been as good as advertised, but Hansen has struggled mightily and is now being used (sparingly) out of the bullpen. The Sooners aren't bad, per se - they just aren't very good.
The only common conference opponent for the two teams is Texas - the Frogs dropped the series in Austin 2-1, while the Sooners took two out of three in Norman. OU also has a series win over Baylor under their belts, but were swept in dominant fashion in Lubbock to begin conference play.
TCU will turn to Luken Baker to try and get what has been a rare Friday night win. This series will go a long way in determining which team starts to separate themselves from a crowded pack for the Big XII regular season lead.
