TCU News: Four Frogs Make Preseason All-Big 12 Team

TCU Football Places Four on Preseason All-Big 12 Team | NBC DFW

Josh Carraway, James McFarland, KaVonte Turpin, and Kenny Hill have all made the list.

Turpin was a Freshman All-America and All-Big 12 recipient last year. He set TCU freshman records with his 45 receptions for 649 yards and eight touchdowns, which tied for second nationally among freshmen.

Kenny Hill hasn't won the starting job, but he's already receiving preseason honors. There still hasn't been a timeline given for when the starter will be announced, and coach Gary Patterson said it could go down to the wire.

Coach Gary Patterson has said the decision on a starter might not be made until just before the Horned Frogs’ season opener Sept. 3 against South Dakota State.

Men's Golf

TCU golfer Stefano Mazzoli only collegiate player in British Open | Fort Worth Star Telegram

Mazzoli will be the first current TCU golfer to compete in a major tournament. Good luck Stefano!

Mazzoli, from Montorfano, Italy, qualified for the tournament by winning the 2015 European Amateur Championship in August. He is the only collegiate player in the field.

He will play alongside John Daly and Ben Curtis. The group is scheduled to tee off at 6:09 a.m. Thursday at the Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland.

TCU, Plano East alum Jake Arrieta takes home Best Breakthrough Athlete at the ESPYs | Dallas Morning News

Arrieta beat out a few other pretty great athletes for the award.

The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner beat out the Minnesota Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns, 16-year-old snowboarder Chloe Kim, and UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
