Fresh off of a 16 tackle performance against Iowa State, redshirt sophomore linebacker Ty Summers has been named the Big 12’s Defensive Player of the Week. Summers, who played quarterback at Reagan High School in San Antonio, now leads the Frogs with 26 tackles on the season.

After not recording a stat in the season opener against South Dakota State, Summers was inserted into the starting lineup in the second game of the season, and hasn’t looked back since. Summers will be relied upon heavily in the coming weeks, with Oklahoma and their two-headed rushing attack of Samaje Perine and Joe Mixon looming large, two weeks from now.
Congrats to Ty and Go Frogs!
