It seems like an eternity has passed since Oregon's fourth down pass was knocked to the turf in San Antonio, securing a TCU victory, a place in the pantheon of sports heroes for Bram Kohlhausen and ending TCU's football season. Since then Frog fans have some of their favorites picked up in the NFL draft (and a few favorites who weren't selected setting the preseason on fire) and have gradually worked themselves into a fever pitch for the start of the 2016 football season. Adding to the anticipation is the fact that we've had to wait as college football kicked off a week ago in Australia, then the first Big 12 game being played by Kansas State yesterday, before sitting through seemingly every other team kicking off their season today all before the Frogs take the field in the prime time spot.
And our opponent in that prime time spot? Well, it may seem like a bit of an anticlimax after all that waiting that the Frogs are opening the season against an FCS team, but honestly it's probably for the best to have a week to attempt to settle in- the Frogs have a lot of new parts in key positions this year, and before we get reacquainted with our former SWC foes (and current ESS-EEE-SEE cultists) it's an opportunity to see how things are going to fit together. Now, if you're anything like me you've probably talked yourself into this TCU team being a national championship contender and are ready to see how this squad looks against "real competition", but don't overlook SDSU, because I guarantee that Coach Patterson hasn't been. For as good as you talk yourself into believing you are, all it takes is an Appalachian State to bring everything back into focus (thanks, Tennessee!) and make everyone remember that only 12 football games are promised to us every year. Let's enjoy the first of them, and think about the second one tomorrow.
This is your gamethread, so drop in and watch, discuss, analyze or just post images to your hearts content. Let's have some fun!
Go Frogs.
