Random TCU Fact of the Week: TCU’s First Football Game EVER!

This football season, we’re kicking off a new series that takes a look at some wild and quirky facts about TCU football.

NCAA Football: Kansas at Texas Christian Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It was the fall of 1896. TCU was not located in Fort Worth, nor was it called “TCU.” Rather, it was known as AddRan College, located in Waco.

A few AddRan students decided to come together and form a team to play a relatively up and coming sport called “football.” And so it began — a tradition that would lead to more than 100 years of memories sweet.

So how did TCU...er, AddRan College...fare in its first football game ever?

Already off to a great start!

AddRan would play just three games in that first “season,” the other two being against a town team known as the Houston Heavyweights.

And the rest is, well, history.
