TCU hires Arizona State Offensive Line Coach Chris Thomsen

Another former Frog is back in the fold.

TCU has made an addition to its offensive staff as of Saturday, with the hiring of Arizona State’s offensive line coach Chris Thomsen. His name should ring a bell to older Frogs, as Thomsen was an All-American for TCU from 1988-90. Thomsen, a two-sport athlete (football and baseball), was drafted into the Oakland A’s organization for two years, before finishing his football career at Abilene Christian.

Thomsen has spent the last four seasons as the offensive line coach at Arizona State. Prior to that, he spent one year at Texas Tech, as the OL coach, and interim head coach after Tommy Tuberville bolted for Cincinnati.

Thomsen spent seven seasons as the head coach at Abilene Christian, after one season of coaching the offensive line at Central Arkansas. He finished his time at ACU with a 51-21 record, and six straight playoff appearances.

While his role on the offensive staff has yet to be formally announced, it would appear as if he’ll take over on the offensive line. This, of course, raises questions about what current OL coach Jarrett Anderson’s role on the staff will be.
