During his weekly Tuesday press conference, Gary Patterson revealed that TCU quarterback Kenny Hill is dealing with an undisclosed injury, and is “probable to questionable” for Saturday’s matchup in Lubbock against Texas Tech. Patterson told the media that TCU’s all-time leading tackler Travin Howard is also questionable for Saturday.
Patterson calls Kenny Hill and Travis Howard questionable for Texas Tech. We may be seeing a lot of Shawn Robinson.— Carlos A. Mendez (@calexmendez) November 14, 2017
This will be something to monitor closely, because if Hill is unable to go freshman Shawn Robinson will get the nod at QB. Of course, this would be a long-awaited moment for a portion of the TCU fanbase, and we all want to see what Robinson’s got. Of course, as Patterson also noted today, Robinson has played in big games before.
Patterson: 'Shawn Robinson has played in big games. He's played in state championships in Texas, 50,000 people. If he has to play, he'll be fine.'— Carlos A. Mendez (@calexmendez) November 14, 2017
This news comes just days after Patterson mentioned that Robinson may need to get more snaps moving forward, as a part of a package designed just for him, and that he also may need to throw the ball a bit.
Losing Howard would also be a big blow to a defense that struggled mightily on Saturday against Oklahoma. It would mean more time for Arico Evans and possibly Sammy Douglas in his absence.
More information is sure to come throughout the week, but this is something to keep an eye on.
