Big 12 to Distribute Men’s Basketball Game on Facebook Watch
The Big 12 Conference has entered into an agreement with Facebook to distribute one of its men’s basketball games exclusively on the platform.
The contest will feature William & Mary at TCU on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 8:00 p.m. CT. Fans will be able to view the game live on Facebook Watch. Fans can add it to their Watchlist by following the Big 12 Conference Live Show Page: https://www.facebook.com/Big12Live/, or by logging into Facebook and searching @Big12Live.
“We are excited to continue exploring the digital space with this unique partnership with Facebook,” commented Big 12 Commissioner Bob Bowlsby. “This new era allows us to provide fans with multiple technological avenues to receive our content.”
The game will be produced by the TCU Sports Broadcasting program in the Bob Schieffer College of Communication, and distributed on Facebook to provide an optimal social and digital viewing experience.
In addition to the live broadcast, additional content on Facebook will include highlight clips and a recap.
This is strange, but not a totally bad thing. After all, the game was not going to be broadcast on television, and now fans have a way to watch TCU if they can’t get to the game.
It also doesn’t appear as if you have to have an actual Facebook account to be able to access the game. So, it’s cool that fans will have a way to watch the game, even if it’s a rather unconventional way.
