TCU recruiting: Putting the finishing touches on #CarterBoys18

There are still some spots to fill in the 2018 recruiting class.

With 20 commits in the 2018 class already, TCU has the 16th best recruiting class in the country, and the third best class in the Big 12 according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings.

The coaches are far from finished, however, as there are still several spots remaining in this class, and a slew of talented kids holding offers and considering making TCU their new home.

There are still some needs in this class, as well. Another running back, another defensive lineman (preferably a tackle), and another linebacker would all be welcomed additions.

TCU has about five spots left to fill in the class of 2018. Here are 10 names to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.

Jaylen Waddle | 4-stars | WR | 5-9, 175 | Bellaire, TX | No. 50 Overall, No. 7 WR

Other schools in the running: Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon, Florida State

Waddle is one of the elite speed guys in the 2018 class, and he’s also got fantastic hands, incredible lateral quickness, and just all around phenomenal athleticism.

JaMarr Chase | 4-stars | WR | 6-1, 195 | Metaire, LA | No. 73 Overall, No. 15 WR

Other schools in the running: Michigan, LSU

Chase has already been committed to Kansas and Florida, and was on the verge of committing to the Frogs over the summer. He’s being pursued heavily by in-state LSU, and Michigan has come on recently, but the Frogs still have a good shot at landing the No. 15 receiver in the class.

Keondre Coburn | 4-stars | DT | 6-1, 329 | Houston, TX | No. 113 Overall, No. 8 DT

Currently committed to Texas

Coburn has an official visit to TCU next weekend (Dec. 15th), and recently hosted two in-home visits. One with TCU assistants Zarnell Fitch and Paul Gonzalez, and another with Fitch, Gonzalez, and Coach P. Who knows if he’ll flip, but it appears he’s listening to what the Frogs have to say.

Jashaun Corbin | 4-stars | RB | 6-0, 191 | Rockledge, FL | No. 247 Overall, No. 5 APB

Other schools in the running: Florida State, Oregon, Tennessee

Corbin was committed to Florida State until the departure of Jimbo Fisher. After Corbin decommitted, he received offers from TCU and Virginia Tech, and has taken an official visit to Clemson.

Trey Dean | 4-stars | S | 6-2, 180 | Hampton, GA | No. 250 Overall, No. 22 S

Other schools in the running: Alabama, South Carolina, Georgia

Dean is a monster safety out of Georgia who decommitted from Tennessee in the midst of their public shenanigans trying to hire a new head coach.

MJ Cunningham | 3-stars | ATH | 6-3, 230 | Portland, OR | No. 8 in Oregon, No. 25 ATH

Currently committed to Oregon

Cunningham has been committed to Oregon since June 25th, and he’ll probably end up a Duck, but he’s visiting TCU just prior to the early signing period, and that means the Frogs have a shot. A long shot maybe, but a shot.

Tony St. Julien | 3-stars | RB | 5-11, 180 | Vinton, LA | No. 15 in LA, No. 21 RB

Other schools in the running: Ole Miss

The Frogs are in the market for another running back in this class, and St. Julien would be a great addition.

Derek Turner | 3-stars | CB/S | 5-10, 182 | Saint Francisville, LA | No. 44 in LA, No. 96 CB

Other schools in the running: Auburn

Turner is an incredible athlete who has also played QB in high school. He’s a big-hitter, and he’s fast.

Garland LaFrance | 3-stars | RB | 5-9, 169 | New Orleans, LA | No. 46 in LA, No. 63 RB

Currently committed to Texas Tech

LaFrance has something new to consider with his recent offer from TCU. He’s been committed to Texas Tech since August 5th.

Jordan Allen | 3-stars | DE | 6-5, 240 | JUCO | San Francisco, CA | No. 29 Overall, No. 3 DE

Other schools in the running: Colorado, Utah, Michigan State, Nebraska

Allen committed to TCU on October 11th, before walking back his commitment on November 3rd. TCU still has a good shot at landing the JUCO end, but other players have entered the mix.
