TCU isn’t very well known for using tight ends in their offense, but they landed a big TE on National Signing Day in Christian Williams. That could be changing with Sonny Cumbie at the helm, and Sonny Dykes in as an offensive advisor, which is why the addition of Williams is a nice one for this class.
Standing at 6-4, 230 pounds, Williams is a big target for whoever is playing QB for the Frogs, with solid hands and good body control. Williams also has a decent amount of speed for his size, which means we may see him stretch the field a bit, opening up options for slot guys underneath.
Of course, he’ll probably also be expected to fulfill the h-back role that so many tight ends have done for TCU, as an extra blocker out of the backfield in goal line situations.
The JUCO tight end from Fullerton College held offers from Illinois, Fresno State, and a few others, but selected TCU in the end.
Check out his hudl and welcome Williams to the Frog fam!
