2017 Postseason Tournament Bid Tracker

The Horned Frogs still have a slim chance of getting into the NCAA Tournament and a very good chance of getting into the NIT in Jamie Dixon’s first season at the helm. The only way TCU can guarantee themselves a spot in the big dance is by winning the Big 12 Tournament. Since TCU is on the bubble still, Horned Frog fans should be pulling for as many 1-seeds to win their conference tournaments as possible to keep other bubble teams from being bid thieves, especially in larger conferences. Smaller conferences will have a bigger impact on the NIT chances, which you can see below the NCAA Tournament tracker.

For the NIT, there are a total of 32 total spots for automatic bids and at-larges. Automatic bids are awarded to any conference regular season champions that do not win their conference tournament. Obviously, not all 32 potential automatic bids will be given out as some conference champs like Kansas, Gonzaga, and Villanova are all locks for the NCAA Tournament. However, for leagues that will only be sending one team to the NCAA Tournament this season, it is best for TCU if as many regular season champs as possible win their conference tournaments in order to keep as many at-large spots open as possible.
