Be a leadoff, Austen! That’s the mantra from the dugout, and the junior out of Midland has more than delivered, especially lately. His effort over the Frogs’ three game sweep of Oklahoma State earned him Big 12 Player of the Week honors.

Wade, who is second on the team in batting average after a weekend which saw him hit .455, as he had a pair of doubles, walked three times, and had two RBIs and two steals. He was also a defensive hero, making excellent relay throws in the first and second games, twice helping gun down the go-ahead run at the plate.
Hitting .291 on the year, Wade leads the team doubles with six, is second in hits and runs, and has 15 RBIs. He is also the leader in total bases with 42, having jacked three home runs and has 17 walks.
The Frogs are back in action Tuesday night against UT Rio Grande Valley, and Wader will be back in the lead-off spot at Lupton. Here’s to hoping he continues his hot hitting and stellar defense at the home park!
