Fort Worth Regional Postponed

Buckets of rain and spats of lightning have pushed the start of the Regional to Saturday.

When it rains, it pours, they say, and that was certainly the case Friday in Fort Worth. After several hours of will they or won’t they, the NCAA made the call to push the start of the Fort Worth Regional to Saturday.

Game one, between the Virginia Cavaliers and Dallas Baptist Patriots will take place at 2:00pm Saturday afternoon after originally being scheduled for 3:00pm Friday. TCU’s opening game with Central Connecticut State gets pushed to a 7:00pm Saturday evening start.

The thought process at this point is that the teams will try and add a third game Sunday as they try and make up for the lost day. Playing on Monday, and into Tuesday, remains in play as well.

Losing a day is a disadvantage for collegiate teams, who are often limited in their bullpen by sheer numbers. Whichever team has to go to the pen earliest could be in trouble come the final game or two. Should things progress into next week, the winner of the Regional would be a day short of their opponent - whoever comes out of the Arkansas pairing. But, as with all things, there is no time to make excuses - TCU just needs to go out and try and win a ball game.

One final note... there is more weather expected Saturday morning, so cross your fingers and say your prayers for a dry weekend in Funky Town.
