The Frogs will have a representative on Team USA after all, as Sean Wymer accepted an invitation, fresh off of his incredible postseason performance.
Wymer put together a stellar sophomore season, earning a second-team All-Big 12 nod. This year, he led the Horned Frogs with 30 appearances out of the bullpen, and he posted a 6-4 mark with a 2.10 ERA in 55 2/3 innings pitched. Wymer struck out 66 batters, while issuing 10 walks and limiting opponents to a .182 batting average against.
Austen Wade accepted an offer from the Indians, after being drafted in the fifth round earlier this month. He leaves a big hole at the top of the order and in right field.
Financial details of the contract are unclear at this time, but the approximate slot value of his selection was $293,800.
This season, Wade started all 63 games in which he played and hit .332 with five home runs and 40 RBI. His on-base percentage of .441 was second-best among TCU players who played in at least 40 games.
Wade, a three-year varsity starter at MHS between 2012-14, was a Big 12 All-Conference selection this year.
The rising junior had a hole in one last week.
Yeah, it’s a light day for links.
Fitzgerald, a Wichita Falls High School graduate, played in three tournaments for the Horned Frogs this season, recording a 76.67 scoring average. His best tournament finish was a T-18 at the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular March 18-19 in Florida and he also had a 71 at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate the month before.
