Battle for the Iron Skillet: Gamethread

It's time for the 97th meeting between TCU and SMU with the Iron Skillet once again hanging in the balance.

Our skillet, now and always.
Our skillet, now and always.
Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Whether you're a fan of the series continuing in its current arrangement or not, there's no denying that Skillet week is special when it rolls around. The one week of the year where SMU fans come out of wherever they've been hiding themselves the other 51 weeks of the year and confidently assert that this year they will claim the skillet and the bragging rights that come with it. And believe me, when SMU wins there will always be an SMU fan around to brag about it. This is a stark contrast to when they lose, as after a loss they simply disappear into the mists of Highland Park until next Skillet Week.

As always the stakes are high in this one. Bragging rights, continuing to lock down the metroplex, asserting Fort Worth's superiority over Dallas, finishing non-conference play undefeated, Big 12 pride, staying on top of Mel's state of Texas power rankings... Good reasons all of them. But most important of all, it's our damn skillet, and no season will ever feel like a success if it doesn't include the skillet staying at home in Fort Worth.

It's time for rivalry, it's time for hate, and it's time for live chat and analysis with your fellow Frogs here. This is your game thread. Let's get cooking.
