TCU earned its 20th commitment for the 2018 class on Saturday night, when Euless Trinity defensive end Izaih Filikitonga committed to the Horned Frogs. Filikitonga committed during the Polynesian Bowl in Hawai’i.
Filikitonga noted that staying close to home was important for him, and the Texas weather was also a plus. He picked TCU over Oklahoma and Oklahoma State. Utah was in the running late as well, but was apparently too far from home to make the final cut.
The 6-2, 237 pound defensive end is the No. 173 player in the state of Texas, and the No. 80 OLB for the class of 2018, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings (yes, he’s listed as a DE, but his rank is as an OLB). Filikitonga is the second defensive end in this class for TCU, joining Manor, TX product Ochaun Mathis.
While there has already been a National Signing Day for college football, FIlikitonga will have to wait until February 7th to sign on the dotted line for TCU. Despite the school being so close to TCU, Filikitonga is the first player from Trinity to join the Frogs since Tipa Galeai signed as a part of the class of 2015.
This is a great addition to TCU’s 2018 class. Welcome to the Frog Fam, Izaih.
