Michael Collins takes reins as TCU QB; Shawn Robinson having surgery | ESPN

It’s Collins job going forward.

Patterson wouldn’t confirm what surgery Robinson would have. Robinson, however, exited TCU’s Sept. 29 game against Iowa State in the final seconds with what appeared to be an injury to his left, non-throwing shoulder.

Robinson started the next two games. But Collins, a sophomore transfer from Penn, took over for Robinson during the second quarter against Oklahoma on Saturday after the Horned Frogs fell behind 28-7. Collins led TCU to 17 points on his first three drives before the Sooners pulled away in the second half.

Can TCU avoid a massive upset?

Solid on defense: TCU ranks second in the Big 12 in total defense, allowing 5.0 yards per play. That’s fractional percentage points behind Iowa State, which also sits at 5.0.

TCU missing a key player? TCU receiver/returner KaVontae Turbin, who ranks second in the Big 12 in all-purpose yards, was arrested Sunday after being accused of assault with bodily injury of a family member, according to jail logs. Turpin had two touchdowns — including a 99-yard kickoff return — in Saturday’s 52-27 loss to Oklahoma.

This was not Turpin’s first arrest. Coach P will likely address this one at today’s press conference.

After it was reported on Monday that TCU star wide receiver KaVontae Turpin was arrested on assault charges, Heartland College Sports has learned that this is not Turpin’s first run in with the law.

As you can see below, and in this link, Turpin was arrested in New Mexico back in March at 2:20 am in Las Cruces, also for battery of a family member. That case is still open.
