TCU football is readying themselves for a bowl game against Cal in a few weeks, but December 26th isn’t the most pressing upcoming date for the Horned Frogs.
College football’s early signing period takes place December 19-21, and in the meantime, the Frogs’ coaching staff is pounding a worn path on the recruiting trail, seeking out the next line of talent to wear purple and white.
Currently, the Frogs have 19 commits for the 2019 class, headlined by several four-star recruits, and some significant talent throughout.

TCU has two fantastic running back commits in Daimarqua Foster and Darwin Barlow, both of whom have had outstanding senior seasons. Foster has rushed for 2,800 yards and 41 touchdowns this season, while Barlow has racked up 2,246 yards and 38 touchdowns on the ground. Both have a handful of receiving touchdowns on the year, too.
For Foster, he’s eclipsed the 100 rushing touchdown mark for his high school career.
Meanwhile, QB commit Max Duggan is having a monster season up in Iowa, throwing for 2,130 yards and 24 touchdowns (to just 3 interceptions), while also rushing for 1,223 yards and 25 touchdowns. Duggan is an early enrollee candidate, seems completely locked in on the Frogs, and will be on campus in January. It’ll be interesting to see how/if he factors into the quarterback competition that will take place this spring. With Duggan, Justin Rogers, Michael Collins, and Shawn Robinson, the Frogs have four guys who will compete for the starting gig.
Of the three athletes on the commit list, Tamauzia Brown and Dee Winters both project to be wide receivers at the next level, while Josh Foster will be in the secondary. Brown and Foster are teammates with Darwin Barlow at Newton High School in Newton, Texas. Newton is sitting at 11-0 currently, and they face Daingerfield this Friday in the quarterfinals of the Texas 3A Division 2 playoffs.
TCU fans have been paying close attention to the trenches this season, and the coaches have made strong moves to add talents on both the offensive and defensive lines with this class.
Andrew Coker is a massive offensive tackle from Katy, Texas, who also holds offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, and Ole Miss, among others. Marcus Williams is another offensive tackle commit in this class, and he’s holding offers from Baylor, Houston, and SMU.
Brannon Brown gives the Frogs a big offensive guard in this class who was getting looks from Notre Dame, Oregon, and Washington, and held offers from Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, prior to committing to the Frogs back in early March.
The Frogs are expected to take a slew of guys along the defensive line, and have the makings of an incredible class with this bunch. Colt Ellison out of Aledo, TX is a Top 50 player in the state of Texas, and holds 25 offers, including Notre Dame, Washington, Penn State, Tennessee, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Missouri, and a slew of others.
Joining Ellison at defensive end are Thomas Armstrong and Jason Vaughn. Neither are very highly rated, but do we need to remind you what TCU gets for one more game in Ben Banogu and LJ Collier? The Frogs know how to coach guys up.
From the DT spot, the Frogs have two huge bodies in Karter Johnson (302 pounds), who holds offers from Nebraska, West Virginia, Michigan State, and Kentucky, among others, and JUCO kid Soni Misi (305 pounds), who has four years to play three for the Frogs.
Of course, the Frogs still have a few spots left to fill to round out this class. Here are several names to keep an eye on with two weeks left until the early signing period.

Parker was a long-time Texas Tech commit, but the firing of Kliff Kingsbury has him rethinking things. He decommitted from the Red Raiders on December 1st, and the Frogs could be a landing spot for him.

Catalon is an incredible talent, and TCU could use him in the secondary. Catalon is a highly sought-after kid, though, but it appears as though the Frogs are in the hunt.

The former TCU commit has been looking at Texas lately, but he’s pushed back a new commitment announcement multiple times. The Frogs seem to have a great WR class already, with Tamauzia Brown, Dee Winters, and Blair Conwright, not to mention they may get Omar Manning back soon, but anything can happen in recruiting.

Seither took an official visit to TCU this past weekend, which shows interest on the part of both parties. He’s got 32 offers to consider, too, but TCU loses three of their five tight ends to graduation this year, and could use him in this class.

Viramontes is a stud JUCO linebacker. With the Frogs losing Jawaun Johnson, Ty Summers, Arico Evans, and Alec Dunham, bringing in a linebacker with some experience would be in TCU’s best interest.

Mathis is another JUCO linebacker from California, and the Frogs seem to be making a concerted effort in the state over the past few years. As TCU combs the countryside for linebackers with experience, Mathis is another one to keep an eye on.
