Well, Frog fans, it looks like you might want to keep those winter clothes out for Spring Break, as ESPN currently has TCU Basketball sitting as an eight seed in the NCAA Tournament and facing off with Seton Hall in...
Detroit.
Brrrrrrrrrrr.
The Frogs, of course, have been all over the map when it comes to their Dance Bid projections, but this is the first time they have been slotted into the West Region’s Detroit opener, and the first time we have seen Seton Hall on the other side of the matchup. The Pirates, who are currently 17-8 overall, but just 3-6 in their last nine games.
The Frogs are trending up, though, and could move into more favorable climates if they keep winning. TCU has been slotted into Pittsburgh, Nashville, Dallas, and Wichita over the last several projections, and of course, with plenty of basketball left to play, things can and will change.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently projects seven Big 12 teams in the field of 64, with Kansas sitting as a two seed in the West, Texas Tech a three in the South, and both Oklahoma (East) and West Virginia (Midwest) as fives. Lunardi has Texas in as a 10 seed, while Kansas State would have to play their way in as an 11, matched up with their football bowl game opponent UCLA in Dallas for a slot in the field of 64.
The Frogs have an RPI of 23 and sit at 22nd in the KenPom ratings heading into tonight’s matchup at West Virginia. They have four top 50 wins against just one loss, and need to hold serve at home and win one of their remaining road contests to feel good about their chances come Selection Sunday.
