It has been a long time since the Horned Frogs beat a ranked team on the road - like two decades long. TCU last beat a top 25 opponent during the 1997-1998 season, one which they finished 27-5, went undefeated in WAC play, and were a five seed in the NCAA Tournament. The last time they played in March Madness, in fact.
That was before Gary Patterson, and thus, before the transition to a football school - back then, Billy Tubbs and Lee Nailon were the biggest things on campus. Now, 20 years later, the Fort Worth campus is undeniably football first, but Jamie Dixon and his basketball squad are making important inroads to raising the profile of the "receiving votes" hoops team.
Tonight, they could take a significant step forward, if they can break the ranked road curse and up-end the Mountaineers on their home court. It's an unenviable, if not impossible task, but one that could shoot the Frogs up the bracket and into March Madness. Chat with us tonight as we watch TCU try to get the (near) impossible done.
