2018 TCU Baseball Preview: Weekend Rotation Announced

Some surprises on the horizon for the Horned Frogs?

No more Sunday throwbacks for Nick?

TCU Baseball opens their season tomorrow night, facing off against Grand Canyon University in Arizona, their first road opener since 2013. Taking the mound on opening night for the Frogs will be redshirt junior Jared Janczak, as he looks to build on an incredible 2017 campaign.

Following JJ in the rotation is sophomore Nick Lodolo, who was a weekend starter as a freshman last season as well, primarily on Fridays and Sundays. Sean Wymer gets the nod in the rubber match game, making his first career start for Jim Schlossnagle on Sunday in the finale.

Janczak started the season opener last year as well, throwing six perfect innings on his way to a 6-3 win over Penn State. Lodolo began the year as the Sunday starter, but threw several Friday nights down the stretch, while JJ bounced between Friday nights and Sunday afternoons over the course of the season.

Schloss has never been afraid to change things up, so this weekend rotation is certainly not set in stone. But it makes a lot of sense to throw your ace Friday night, put your most physically gifted guy in the middle, and go with the steady hand for the finale.

The Frogs open their season tomorrow evening, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00pm CT. You can watch the game via the Watch ESPN app.
