A story broke on WFAA Tuesday morning, reporting that Trevone Boykin had allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, about a week ago, choking her and breaking her jaw.

Boykin has since been released from the Seattle Seahawks, who signed him as an undrafted free agent back in 2016.

Boykin responded to the allegations on Tuesday afternoon. You’ll find his full statement below.

He makes a clear and firm claim of innocence, a stance commonly taken by people who have been accused of domestic violence. Now, it’s up to the courts to decide who is telling the truth: Boykin or Bailey.
