The transition from September to October just got a little more exciting for Frog fans, as TCU Golf added a home contest to their calendar at the famed Fort Worth Colonial Golf Course. TCU will host eight of the top teams in the country from September 30th - October 2nd, squads that all finished in the Top 25 a season ago, and 15 programs in total. Nine of the 15 participants participated in the 2017 NCAA Championship Tournament.
The Nike Collegiate Invitational is hosted alternately by the Horned Frogs and Oregon, and was held at Colonial in bot 2014 and 2016. The 2018 field will include Oklahoma, Vanderbilt, and Florida - all top ten teams a year ago - as well as Texas, Stanford, Clemson, Duke, USC, Wake Forest, Oregon, Arizona, Georgia, Ohio State, Washington, and of course, TCU.
TCU coach Bill Montigel, entering his 32nd season with the golf program, is excited for what this means for Frog fans. “It’s an incredible opportunity for TCU fans, alums and supporters to watch us play in arguably the best collegiate tournament in the country.”
The Horned Frogs will play in 10 regular season tournaments this season, traveling coast to coast to play in some of the top, and most challenging, tournaments in college golf. The Big 12 season begins with the inaugural Match Play Championship in mid-October, prior to the Fort Worth tilt.
The season concludes in April at The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, from April 26th through 28th. NCAA Regionals follow May 12-15th, and the NCAA Championships are held at the end of the month in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
According to www.gofrogs.com, TCU returns all six individuals who competed last season. Triston Fisher, Turner MacLean, Pierre Mazier, Stefano Mazzoli, David Ravetto and Hayden Springer are all seniors.
