For weeks now, TCU has been teasing the reveal of new football uniforms for the 2019 season. Frog fans have waited with great anticipation for the team to show us. They’ve teased us with tweets like this one:
“Yeah, I like that.”

Super Bowl XLIX champ @Josh_Boyce got a sneak peek at the new threads. He was feeling them pic.twitter.com/v0fZ8QE3sE
But now, the wait is over. TCU football made their big reveal on Wednesday morning, much to everyone’s enjoyment.
Let’s take a look:

Here’s a freeze frame of all three new uniforms.

TCI is officially moving away from the “Frogskin” look they’ve donned for the last several seasons, and I know a slew of TCU fans who will be seriously happy about that. I’m not sure there has been anything more divisive about TCU football than those gray Frogskin jerseys in the last three seasons.
It also seems that the new uniforms are putting a modern twist on an old collar design. The spikes around the collar clearly are a play off the Horned Frog’s spikes, and it carries all around to the name plate on the back of the jersey.

If you remember back to the L.T. era, those uniforms had a diamond pattern on the collar that represented the Horned Frog as well.
The solid color jerseys look fantastic - extremely clean coming off the jaggedness of the Frogskin pattern. The silver numbers on the purple and black jerseys really pop, as well. It also looks like the font for the numbers is staying the same.
From what the video shows, it looks like the pants will all be solid colors - black, purple, and white.
But let’s get to my favorite part of this reveal - the helmets. Solid purple, black, and white with a purple stripe down the middle (a black stripe on the purple helmet), with the matte black helmet looking especially incredible.

As most uniforms do, these have little Easter eggs that give shoutouts to a variety of people as well as TCU lore. The coolest one though is right on the front of the uniform.
It’s a nod to Gary Patterson, and is the shape and feel of a guitar pick.

There are a few more cool hidden things like that, too. You can read up on the uniforms, and see all the possible combinations here. All in all, this is a good look for the Horned Frogs. I can’t wait to see them in action.
Now hurry up and get here, football season!
