Enchiladas Olé, top-ranked for Tex-Mex, to open in TCU neighborhood | The Star-Telegram

I know there is a big football game this weekend, but this is the biggest news of the season. I am SO EXCITED! Seriously the best enchiladas of my life.

Award-winning Enchiladas Olé, a homespun restaurant that started as a craft enchilada sauce business, will move into a former taco restaurant on Forest Park Boulevard near TCU, owner Mary Perez said Thursday.

The restaurant, 2418 Forest Park Blvd., needs some repairs but will open by the new year, Perez said. The current restaurant, 901 N. Sylvania Ave., will remain open through Thanksgiving week, she said.

Iowa State opens as one-score favorite against TCU | Cyclone Alert

Oddsmakers pegged Iowa State as a 2.5-point favorite for its Big 12 home opener against TCU and the line quickly shifted to favor the Cyclones by 3.5 points. The betting line comes after Iowa State dropped a 23-21 game against Baylor and TCU dismantled Kansas, 51-14. The over/under for the TCU-Iowa State matchup opened at 48. The two teams will kick off Saturday at 11 a.m. in Ames.

If the betting line holds, it would mark only the second time in 11 meetings that Iowa State has been favored against TCU. The Horned Frogs have been favored in eight of 10 all-time meetings between the schools since they first met in 1995. Iowa State was a 4-point favorite in 1998 and the 2005 meeting in the Houston Bowl was a pick’em. TCU leads the all-time series 8-2, including 5-2 since joining the Big 12. The Cyclones are 5-5 against the spread in the 10 games since 1995.

It’s early, and they’ll be tested big time this weekend, but have to be excited about the start.

“Nope,” Patterson said. “We have two running backs that are going to get drafted and probably two offensive linemen. We’ve had 40 NFL people come through here with all the guys we have the last two days. There’s another six today. There’s some pretty good players on this team.”

Patterson ended with a tongue-in-cheek comment, saying: “I know we’re only TCU. Obviously you can’t have but one or two.”

Yes, TCU has plenty of talent in the offensive backfield and co-offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie is playing to that strength. The Frogs are running 59.9 percent rushing plays through four games, the highest percentage since Cumbie arrived with the spread offense in 2014.

This was an awesome night at the ballpark.

For TCU, though, it was more about the experience of playing in a big-league ballpark. The Frogs just started fall practices last week and have months before the 2020 season gets underway.

“What an awesome life experience to be in a big-league ballpark, especially the last game,” Schlossnagle said. “I’ve lived here for 17 years and this place has provided a lot of awesome memories. To play the last ballgame in here? We’re very, very grateful to the Rangers for hosting us.”

Globe Life Park has a couple concerts on the schedule before transforming into a football stadium for the XFL’s Dallas Renegades.
