The Frogs continue to mine The Boot for talent, securing the verbal pledge of a really good defensive player.

TCU will likely be replacing at least one of their outstanding defensive tackles after this season, with Ross Blacklock — and possibly Corey Bethley — bound for the NFL in the spring. That means that Gary Patterson and the Horned Frogs are on the hunt for the next crop of QB Hunters.

They got a good one in the class of 2020 with the commitment of four star stud Patrick Jenkins.

The 6’2”, 285 pounder out of John Ehret in Louisiana was originally committed to LSU, but backed off in September. That opened the door for the Horned Frogs to move in, and they were able to close the deal. In addition to the Frogs and the Tigers, Jenkins held offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, A&M, and others - 27 schools in total. He was a highly-sought player, ranked in the top 15 in the state and amongst the top 30 at his position. Evaluated by 247’s Gabe Brooks, he’s rated as a likely Power Five starter who is “solidly built and wears mass very well relative to weight. Active front-line defender with definite position and scheme versatility. Active hands at the point of attack. Shows a natural pass-rushing feel with consistent swim and club. Flashes impressive first step and encouraging closing speed in pursuit, especially relative to size and position. High-motor front-line playmaker with valuable position and personnel flexibility who projects to high-major level.”
