Heisman race is coming to a close

Last night, the Heisman Finalist announcement came as no shock. Joe Burrow, Justin Field, Jalen Hurts, and Chase Young will all travel to New York on Saturday evening. These guys have beyond earned their place on the ballot, but at the end of the day I’m calling Joe Burrow. His performance is just next level: 4,715 yards, 48 touchdowns, 6 interceptions, and a 77.9% completion rate. Joe Burrow is the definition of Heisman gold. Not only was the Heisman list predictable, the CFP teams were as well. With LSU at number 1 and Oklahoma at number 4, we’re going to get to see Jalen Hurts and Joes Burrow go head to head. At this point, y’all have heard me talk the talk for Hurts, and now I’m ending the season with Burrow. Who do y’all have?

The rivalry they won’t let happen

Yep, you guessed it. Texas and A&M meeting once again in football, seems like a fantasy at this point. The Longhorns and Aggies played every year between 1815 and 2011, and then A&M left the Big 12 to get beat every year (aka joined the SEC). Texas remains the leader of the series with a 76-37-5 record. But hear me out, what if instead of Oklahoma State to the Texas Bowl, we got Texas and A&M reunited. Unfortunately, that seems next to impossible, but it’s fun to think about. Even if they’re not playing in football, their basketball teams are keeping alive that “rivalry”. The 8-1 Longhorns beat the 3-5 Aggies 60-50 on Sunday at Dickies Arena.

6A playoffs: who’s still in?

As we have learned this year, all Cinderella stories must come to an end.

In the D2 category, Dallas Jesuit saw an end to their season with a loss to Spring Westfield. A 38-28 loss, would still make Ranger history, by being their first regional final appearance in school history. EJ Smith (uncommitted senior) was a force to be reckoned with not only against Westfield, but during the entire season he made a name for himself. However, this game stayed close thanks to the offense. Jhalen Spicer (uncommitted senior) was a key asset for Jesuit with 2 pass break ups, 50 return yards, and on top of that he put the clamps on any receiver who lined up with him.

Spring Westfield will advance to take on Denton Guyer, with one win separating them from the State Championship.

In the D1 category, the 11-2 Prosper Eagles fell to the 11-2 Rockwall Yellowjackets. The 59-42 loss would be heartbreaking for the community, with a Rockwall last minute touchdown making the final score more than it really was. Rockwall quarterback, Braedyn Locke (uncommitted sophomore), would throw an interception to Jorden Miles (uncommitted senior) who would run it back for a pick 6. This game was played with great defenses on both sides of the ball, but the Wide Receivers brought up the energy in the Frisco Star. Tyler Bailey (uncommitted Sophomore) and Hayden Metcalf showed out for Prosper, with Hayden having one of the best catches I’ve seen in football history -Hayden was a PWO for Arkansas, but after the Chad Morris firing is now uncommitted, it would be great to see this stellar athlete as a Horned Frog. JJ Williams and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, 5-star Ohio State commit, both ultimately gave Rockwall the competitive edge they needed to pull out the win.

Rockwall has now been given the challenge to get through Duncanville, in order to compete at the State Championship game.
