After a frustrating 2019 showing by the Frogs’ offensive line, signing a talent like Garrett Hayes is huge for the Horned Frogs. They did just that Wednesday, when the 6’5”, 292 pounder tackle out of Athens made it official.

The four star prospect had 22 offers to choose from, including Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon, and Oklahoma. The top 100 prospect is top ten at his position in the state, and the kind of player that could step on campus and be an early contributor for a line that needs some help.
Hayes is already an exceptional run-blocker, but will have to work on his pass-block technique after playing in a run-heavy scheme in high school. An exceptional athlete with a fiery streak, he should have little problem adjusting to the speed of the collegiate game. Hayes projects as a high-level player in college, and is the kind of guy who doesn’t think a play is finished until his opponent is planted in the dirt. He also really loves TCU. “I chose TCU because it felt like home and it just felt right to be there. It felt like being around family up there.”
Though he is signing in the early period, he does not plan to enroll until the summer. He is one of two top 100 prospects to sign in the class of 2020, joining Quentin Johnston, marking the first time in the Gary Patterson era that TCU has signed two in the century club.
