The Frogs went far east for a pair of recruits in the class of 2020, signing two talents out of Virginia as members of this year’s class. Joining cornerback Keontae Jenkins is fellow Virginian Altrique Barlow, a three star guard out of Catholic High School in Virginia Beach.
Barlow committed to the Frogs back in May, just days after his friend Jenkins. The 6’3”, 365 pound offensive lineman jumps off the page with his size and strength, playing with a fierceness and tenacity that would make any hog-mollie proud. Describe as a “punishing blocker”, Barlow simply dominates his competition with a quick first step and a powerful initial punch. Still raw, he has a high football IQ and a ton of room for growth and development as he moves on to the next level.
Altrique is a bit of an under-the-radar signee, holding just four offers — though Virginia Tech and Auburn are among them. He will need to refine his technique to be successful at the next level, but with that frame and that athleticism, there’s little doubt that he should be a contributor down the line.
Barlow made it official in a ceremony Thursday at his high school.
