The Frogs dipped into Oklahoma not once, not twice, but three times this recruiting cycle, signing three offensive stars out of the Sooner state to Carter Boys 2020. Three star receiver Blake Nowell is one of the class’ gems, and he made it official to the Frogs Wednesday.
Just named District MVP, and now OFFICIALLY a Horned Frog. We are proud to welcome @BlakeNowell to the family. Welcome home...

Another big target for TCU passers, the 6’4” Nowell chose the Frogs out of 10 offers, including Air Force, Iowa State, Kansas, and Kansas State. The Ardmore native is deceptively fast, having finished on the medal stand for the 400 at the state meet as both a sophomore and junior. That speed transfers to the field, where his long stride and acceleration make him a big-play receiver who can really stretch the field. But more than just speed, Nowell brings exceptional ball-tracking ability and body control to go along with making tough catches and high pointing the ball. He is likely going to become a great red zone target in TCU’s offense.
Though he has some refining to do as both an athlete and a route-runner, Nowell has a chance to be a great signing in this class. Though he doesn’t have the rankings or the big name of some of his 2020 counterparts, he is a guy that should consistently contribute and potentially break out down the line. Nowell finished his senior season with over 1,000 yards and double-digit touchdown receptions, leading his team to the state championship game.
