We will have to wait one more day to see the 2019 version of Lupton Magic, as it was announced Monday that the Horned Frogs’ home opener would be moved to Wednesday, as inclement weather is threatening for Tuesday, the originally scheduled date.
Coming off of a 2-1 weekend in the MBL4 Tournament, including a 10-2 beatdown of #1 Vanderbilt, Frog fans should be excited to see a first-hand look at the new-look TCU Baseball team. New faces dot the lineup and the pitching staff, and since the marquee tournament was not televised, most folks have yet to see them in action.
That changes this week.
Haylen Green will get the start Wednesday against Abilene Christian, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30pm. The junior lefty has yet to toe the rubber this season for TCU.
The Frogs will follow the midweek tilt with a weekend series against Grand Canyon University, who served as their season-opener a year ago. Friday night’s first pitch will be at 6:30pm, followed by Saturday’s scheduled 2:00pm start, and the finale Sunday at 1:00pm. TCU Baseball Coach Jim Schlossnagle mentioned weather could push Saturday’s time back an hour, to 3:00pm.
The forecast for Tuesday is raining and 40 degrees, while Wednesday’s is cloudy and 55. There are thunderstorms possibly over the weekend, but the hope is that they won’t interfere too much with the games.
See you at Lupton for a great week of baseball!
