He’s only played three games, but already freshman Porter Brown is garnering conference honors.
TCU baseball’s DH/OF has earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week after a stellar opening weekend.
Congrats to Porter Brown on earning @Big12Conference Newcomer of the Week honors! The freshman ranks second in the league with a .583 (7-for-12) average. He has reached base in 9 out of his last 11 plate appearances. #GoFrogs pic.twitter.com/ffu1ArXcSf

Brown has injected significant pop and speed into a TCU lineup that was in desperate need of it. Beyond going 7-for-12 at the plate over the course of the MLB4 Tournament this weekend, Brown also stole three bases, scored five runs, and drove in two more.
He currently leads the team in batting average (.583), on base percentage (.643), slugging percentage (.667) OPS (1.310), and stolen bases (3).
It’s early in Brown’s career, but it appears as if the Frogs have found yet another elite-level player.
