‘No one expects us to win.’ Oklahoma State embracing underdog role vs. TCU | The Star-Telegram
Uh, well, they already beat the Frogs once and nearly upset them at home. I don’t think Jamie Dixon’s team is taking them lightly.
The Cowboys knocked down 11 3-pointers on the Frogs in the upset win in Stillwater, including six by Thomas Dziagwa. The 11 3-pointers were the second-most given up by TCU in a game this season (Baylor made 15 on Feb. 2 in Waco).
Oklahoma State led the Big 12 in 3-point field goal percentage this season at 37.6 percent, but TCU had the second-best 3-point defense, limiting opponents to 30.5 percent.
And the Frogs are coming off a game in which they held Texas to 4-for-19 from long range.
“We feel good about how we’re playing right now,” Dixon said. “We had a good game, played well the other day, so we’re going to build off that. I can say we’re as healthy as we’ve been with our seven guys and feel pretty good about our rotation. We’re ready to go.”
ICYMI: TCU fell in a heartbreaker, and now await their tourney fate.
“I felt like I had to do whatever my team needed,” Okonkwo said. “If that was rebounding, do that. If that was scoring, do that.”
The loss leaves TCU waiting for March 18, when the field for the 2019 NCAA tournament will be announced. With 10 wins in conference play and 20 overall, TCU has built up its March Madness resumé well. Regardless, all they can do now is wait.
“This is a very driven and motivated team with a lot left in their tank,” Pebley said. “I think that we’re still a very good resume built team for the NCAA Committee to consider.”
Baseball:
An incredible way to honor a great young man.
To date, more than $44,000 in scholarships have been awarded through the DMMT, and $32,000 was awarded at the 2019 tournament with $2,000 given to each school.
Recipients are chosen by the coach and consideration is given to players that would benefit from the financial assistance. However, the player must embody the characteristics of Drew: drive to succeed, humility and empathy for others, and be a leader on his baseball team.
“It means a lot because I’m being remembered as having the same characteristics as Drew Medford,” said Paschal third baseman Leo Monks, who has committed to Vernon College. “It’s a big honor because a lot of people looked up to him.”

2022?!!! Dude is already 6’3”, 330 as a freshman.
“We talked about football after life and he said if football doesn’t go well your education is still paid for,” Alexander said. “He said TCU is definitely the place you want to be.”
TCU began spring camp last week and Alexander had a chance to see what a Frogs’ practice looked like up close. Although it was just the first practice and the Frogs weren’t in pads, he could see the excitement in the players’ eyes.
“You could tell all the players really loved to be out there,” he said.
With plenty of time to go in the process, Alexander has time to be patient for offers. In fact, although they didn’t offer while on the visit, TCU has told him he’s very high on their radar and that an offer could be coming.
“They’ve told me to be patient with it,” he said.
