Summers is exactly what NFL teams are looking for - swiss army knife type players willing to play any role for their team.
“I would have played really well in college, and I probably would have had an opportunity, maybe as a free agent kind of thing just because I would have found a way to be successful. I was a gamer,” the quarterback-turned-linebacker from TCU explained as the Packers get set for the next phase of the offseason program — organized team activity practices, which kick off next week. “I had fun doing it, and I made plays.
“But ultimately it wouldn’t have taken me here. I would have been a good college player, but it wouldn’t have taken me here.”
Here is Lambeau Field, where Summers will try to make the 53-man roster as an inside linebacker and special teams contributor — which is a long way from being a record-setting high-school quarterback and garnering interest from Rice, multiple Ivy League schools and Army, Navy and the Air Force academies.

Reagor could’ve stuck with Oklahoma for college. He would’ve caught passes from Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray and Jalen Hurts. Instead, he opted for TCU. There were more than a few reasons for that – he wanted to play with Snell and be closer to his family – but as an elite recruit he also wanted to zig while everyone else zagged, opting to become the first 247Sports Composite Top 100 player to commit to TCU since 2011.
“People come here and it’s kind of an underdog mentality,” Reagor said. “But I feel as if I can come here and change the culture to where you’re expected to play well. It’s not a shocker. A freshman can come in and take a starting spot and it not be a shocker. That’s what we expect from the players that are being recruited.
“People often follow the crowd, especially in this day and age. But there’s always going to be a select few who chooses a place to mold them. Everything we do here prepares you for the next level.”
We will see realignment at some point, and someone may eventually grab Notre Dame. But it won’t be the Big 12. Still fun to talk about this though!
Can you imagine the Big 12 with a three headed monster of Oklahoma, Texas, and Notre Dame?
However, although this is a match made in heaven, I just don’t see it happening.
Why would Notre Dame stop being an independent? They are proving you don’t have to be in a conference to be a profitable program with the help of the schools TV contract. Also, if the lack of competition is a problem, Notre Dames ability to schedule whoever they please can allow them to beef up who they play each season.

TCU senior Stefano Mazzoli led the way for the Frogs and was co-champion with a 9-under 204 score for the tournament, tops along with Texas golfers Cole Hammer and Steven Chervony.
“I’m really happy with how I played today, one of the best rounds of golf of my life,” said Mazzoli, who shot a 7-under 64 on Wednesday.
“I knew we had to do something good and I’m really happy our team made the NCAA Championships. I’m proud of the way the whole team played down the stretch.”
Other schools advancing along with Texas and TCU were Clemson (1-under), Pepperdine (6-over) and Southern California (8-over).
