There are few things more challenging to endure than an afternoon kickoff in August in Texas, something that Frog fans have been accustomed to over the last few years when a non-marquee opponent travels to Amon G. Carter Stadium for a season-opener.
Thankfully, that would be the case in 2019, as it was announced Thursday that the Frogs would face off with Arkansas Pine-Bluff under the lights to open their campaign, with kickoff on August 31st set for 7:00pm. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.
TCU’s second game of the season will also be a primetime tilt, as the Horned Frogs travel to Indianapolis on September 14th to face Purdue for the first time since 1970. That game will be shown on the Big Ten Network and start at 6:30pm.
Lastly, it was announced Thursday that TCU and West Virginia’s Black Friday showdown, the regular-season finale for the Horned Frogs, will be an afternoon game with a 2:30pm kickoff. That game will be shown on either ABC or ESPN.
We are less than 100 days from the start of the season, so we will leave you with some exciting facts, courtesy of www.gofrogs.com:
- TCU, which holds the Big 12’s longest active winning streak at three games, returns 12 starters (five defensive, seven offensive) in 2019.
- Over the last five seasons, TCU’s 47-19 overall record and 30-15 conference mark rank second in the Big 12.
- TCU is one of just six programs nationally to finish with an Associated Press top-10 final ranking in at least three of the last five years (2014, 2015, 2017).
