Two TCU Horned Frogs have been tabbed as preseason All-Americans by one of the foremost authorities in college football, as Phil Steele named senior Jeff Gladney and junior Jalen Reagor as two of the best at their positions.
Jeff Gladney was one of the best cover men in the country in 2018, named a first team All Big 12 member by Pro Football Focus and voted a second team member by conference coaches. The 6’0” senior is one of the fastest players in the country, and widely regarded as a shutdown corner in one of the toughest conferences to be a secondary defender in the country. Gladney had the lowest passer-rating against in 2018 according to PFF and allowed only one reception per 16.5 coverage snaps, good for best in the conference. He tied for second in the Big 12 with 13 PBUs and had two interceptions on the season.
Junior wide receiver Jalen Reagor also received the honor after being a do it all offensive player for the Horned Frogs during his sophomore campaign. Reagor showed he was capable of scoring as a returner, a runner, and a receiver in his second season in Fort Worth on his way to an 11 touchdown season with well over 1,000 yards on offense. Another player with speed to burn, Reagor averaged nearly 15 yards per catch and 13 yards per rush last season.
Both players will be both some of the best at their position and leaders on their side of the ball, and will need to be exceptional to see the Horned Frogs reach their lofty goals. The chase begins on August 31st, when TCU welcomes Arkasnas Pine-Bluff to Fort Worth for a 7:00pm kick-off.
