Iowa State Football: What deserves attention at Big 12 media days? Here’s a start | Ames Tribune

These two teams are near mirror-images when it comes to what happened in 2018 and what they expect in 2019.

Based on the standards set by Patterson in Fort Worth and Gundy in Stillwater, 2018 was a down year for the Horned Frogs and Cowboys. So where do both programs go from here?

Both teams went 7-6 last year — TCU won four league games and Oklahoma State won three — but each also won bowl games against Power 5 opponents. TCU should once again be a tough out on defense while Oklahoma State possesses some intimidating offensive weapons, but both will be searching for a new starting quarterback.

Ty Summers a Versatile Addition to the Defense | Cheesehead TV

Summers is impressing early in Green Bay, and has a really great shot to make the roster.

Inside linebackers are often considered the quarterbacks of the defense, something that gives Summers an advantage in both picking up the defensive playbook, and understanding what opposing offenses are going to do. His high football IQ will translate well going from a solid college defense to a Mike Pettine scheme.

Pettine will have plenty of options for utilizing Summers in his defense, with an inside linebacker that can go sideline-to-sideline against the run, get after the quarterback in certain blitz packages, and drop into coverage against the pass. He’s about as versatile as they come.

I’ve really enjoyed doing the college football and the college basketball work that I still do right now. I do the pre, post and halftime shows for TCU football and basketball on their radio network.

I actually do that remotely from my house. I pipe into our national studios from my home studio here in Atlanta and hook up with the guys that are in Fort Worth. They do the play-by-play and toss it back to me for scoreboard updates and highlights.
