Coming off of a step back season, TCU Basketball and coach Jamie Dixon will have a chance to get a signature win in the midst of the start of their conference slate when they travel to Fayetteville to take on Arkansas. The game will be played at 3:00pm on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ESPNU.
It will be the 143rd meeting between the two schools, but the first since 1991 when the two programs were members of the Southwest Conference. TCU and Arkansas played at least two times every season from 1923-24 until 1990-91. The Razorbacks, which went 18-16 last season and lost in the second round of the NIT, lead the all-time series 104-38.
The Frogs have had success as they enter their seventh season of The Challenge, holding a 4-2 record overall and coming off of a win over Florida in Fort Worth last season. Big 12 teams are 35-25 (.583) in the Big 12/SEC Challenge after a 6-4 advantage in 2019. The Big 12 has a yearly Challenge record of 4-1-1 with wins in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The tie occurred in 2017 (in case of a tie, the trophy stays with the conference that won it the previous season).
TCU is coming off its third-straight season of 20 or more wins. Jamie Dixon enters his fourth season as head coach of the Horned Frogs, which are led by returning starters Desmond Bane and Kevin Samuel.
