FanPulse Week 1: Eye(s) on the Tigers

Clemson was a near-unanimous #1 after one week of play.

After one week of college football, we don’t know a whole lot. Some teams struggled mightily against inferior opponents, others took care of the opposition as we expected, while still others were Tennessee. Outside of a handful of games, there weren’t a ton of marquee matchups; in fact, the only ranked matchup on the schedule was Auburn vs Oregon in Jerry World, and only six ranked teams took on Power Five opponents.

All that to say, there wasn’t a ton of movement in this week’s FanPulse poll.

The top five stayed the same, with Clemson gathering first place honors from all but two fan sites - oddly enough, the other two representing Power Five schools in the Carolinas (US of C and UNC).

Auburn was the week’s biggest winner, jumping ten spots to land inside the top ten after their last-second victory over Oregon, while the Ducks dropped from 12 to 17. Iowa State fell out of the poll completely after needing triple overtime to knock off UNI, while fellow Big 12 mate Texas stayed planted at ninth overall. Miami, the second of two FanPulse ranked teams to lose their opening game, found themselves on the outside looking in, while the team that beat them, Florida, fell two spots themselves.

TCU fans did right by their old running mates, the Boise State Broncos, rewarding them by placing them at 25 after they went on the road and knocked-off Florida State and Kendall Briles.

The Horned Frogs are still looking to make themselves an option in the vote, but with a week two bye, will likely remain off the ballot unless they can find a way to beat Purdue on the road.
