Tre Hights has had big week 1 games before, but this one had a different feel as he enters his senior season.
Hights finished the game with a team-leading eight catches for 108 yards on 10 targets. This is a guy who entered the season with six career catches and had yet to have a 100-yard receiving game in his college career.
Song went 5-5 on field goals while Wallow made 13 tackles, including 3.5 for a loss and a sack.
Wallow was tabbed the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high 13 tackles, while Song picked up Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week after sending a career-high five field goals through the uprights Saturday.
Garret Wallow will probably lead the team in tackles at season’s end. He has different goals, though.
“My goal is everything as a team,” Wallow said at Big 12 media days last month. “I want my team to be successful. I want to win as a team. I want to do whatever I can on the field in order for my team to get the ‘W’ and be successful.
