TCU scores NCAA Tournament-caliber win with upset of No. 18 Texas Tech | The Star-Telegram

You know Mac was there to watch it all burn. But it did not burn.

On Tuesday night, in front of what sounded at times a lot like a certain gym in Lubbock, TCU scored its biggest win in two years by defeating No. 18 Texas Tech, 65-54.

It was a fun, loud, vibrant atmosphere, and for a few minutes those in the arena may have forgotten that football receives top billing on campus. TCU’s fans even stormed the court after the win.

“Stormed” is a generous use of the word. It’s TCU. It was more of a saunter.

But by the end of the night, TCU’s home court sounded more like an advantage, as two players carried the Horned Frogs to the type of win they need when the NCAA Selection Committee determines who is in the field of 68, and which teams they are going to rob of a bid.

Tuesday’s Things to Know: Kansas and K-State Brawl, TCU’s signature win, Villanova beats Butler | Yahoo Sports

If not for the brawl, everyone would be talking Horned Frogs today.

TCU has stayed in the mix for an NCAA tournament bid with a positive 11-5 start.

The Horned Frogs lacked a signature win though.

That changed on Tuesday night with TCU claiming a 65-54 win over No. 18 Texas Tech. Now with a Q1 win on the profile, TCU should make a move up the NET to get in respectable bubble territory.

TCU still has work to do if they want to secure a bid. Only one Q1 win, one Q2 win and a combined 2-5 record in those two quadrants isn’t going to cut it.

But with a 4-2 record in the Big 12, TCU is a team to keep tabs of the next several weeks.

Draft Hunt: Jeff Gladney Adding Corner Depth | Buffalo Fanatic

Could Gladney join another Frog with the Bills?

Last Word:

Although there are other looming needs on this Bills roster, it is always a good thing to add secondary depth. Cornerback Jeff Gladney is a tough, athletic corner who would fit the Bills’ defensive scheme and mentality. The Bills might look to add a good corner in the middle of the draft who would come at a cheaper price since the contract of Tre’davious White is coming. Gladney would fit perfectly into the Bills zone scheme defense and also add solid man coverage ability too.

Why they chose this game over TCU-Baylor, I will never understand.

9. TCU 33, Texas Tech 31 – Nov. 16

Max Duggan’s 55-yard touchdown pass to Jalen Reagor in the second quarter seemed to begin a TCU rout in earnest. The Horned Frogs jumped ahead 24-3 on the score, but... well, Big 12 football happened.

Texas Tech chipped away at the deficit before blasting it apart with a three-touchdown third quarter. The Red Raiders rode into the final period with a one-point lead, leaving TCU to rally in the final 15 minutes.

Stansly Maponga: From Soccer to American Football | New Zimbabwe

Stansley is back on the football field, and has a chance to revive his career in the XFL.

Maponga was born in Zimbabwe, one of five siblings raised by a single mother, Barbara Green. It was his mother’s decision to move her family to Texas, a chance to improve her family’s living situation.

“My mom wanted a better life for us,” Maponga said. “Just coming from where I came from, it was hard. We didn’t have a father figure who was there to teach us how to be men. My mom had to do both.

Maponga said it was a “tremendous blessing” to be raised by a woman capable of filling the roles of both mother and father figure. Once he committed to football, he became determined to find success to repay everything his mother did to get him to this point.

“For her, just to work as hard as she did to bring us here, I can’t let her down,” he said. “I owe her that much for what she’s done for our family, for us to have a successful life.”
