According to reports, TCU Football redshirt sophomore Al’Dontre Davis has entered the transfer portal.

A native of Convent, LA, the 6’0”, 210 pound receiver signed as a three star recruit and a top 300 prospect in the 2017 class. He had 21 offers out of high school, including LSU, Arkansas, Georgia, and Texas A&M.

After redshirting his first season on campus, Davis played in 11 games as a freshman, catching six passes for 63 yards, with a long of 18. In 2019, he had just one reception — but it was a big one, going for 22 yards and his first career touchdown. The catch came against Purdue when Max Duggan found the target wide open in the end zone:

But a crowded receiver room, including the addition of graduate transfer JD Spielman and the emergence of Blair Conwright and Quentin Johnston had Davis on the outside looking in in 2020, and he had yet to see the field. He will look for opportunities elsewhere, and will maintain two years of eligibility with the grace waiver granted to all fall athletes due to COVID-19.
