A brief peek back at what went right and what went wrong in Week 12:

Good Calls

All of my calls paid off last week…that is all of the players who played. Kyle Trask kept pace in the Heisman race, passing for 383 yards and 3 TDs (107-1 to Kadarius Toney); JT Daniels shined in his first UGA start, throwing for 401 yards and 4 TDs (87-1 to George Pickens); and Trelon Smith reached the endzone as the Hogs fell just short vs. LSU.

Bad Calls

Well never could’ve guessed that Travis Etienne and Clemson’s game with FSU would’ve gotten COVID-cancelled at the last minute, but hopefully you were tuned in enough to swap him out of your lineup. Also, not exactly a bad call, but even if George Pickens was a good call his teammate Jermaine Burton would’ve been the much much better call – priced at just $5,300 and exploded with 8 receptions, 197 yards and 2 TDs.

Main Slate

Reminder: your Main Slate roster will include 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, and a Super Flex (any offensive player, including QB). The Main Slate this week includes the Egg Bowl, the Iron Bowl, and 11 non-rivalries filling out rivalry week.

Stud QB

Brennan Armstrong ($9,800): Virginia (-9) vs. Florida State, O/U 58 – This is a choice of opportunity and opponent. FSU is literally one of the worst defenses in the country (#120 overall in EPA/play), and that’s even having not played Clemson. Armstrong represents just about the entire offensive output for UVA – he gets it done with his legs and through the air. There are many great choices at the top of the QB price range, but think Armstrong is a good pivot as he’ll likely be lower owned than the household names.

Value QB

Will Rogers ($7,500): Mississippi State (+9.5) vs. Ole Miss, O/U 69 – A volume play against a terrible pass defense. We know Mike Leach QBs will throw a ton of passes – Rogers had 52 attempts last week vs. UGA – and we know Ole Miss has been very giving to opposing offenses this season. The Bulldogs haven’t been very good this season, but with a total this nice, have to think Rogers is responsible for multiple scores while amassing a huge yardage total. If it’s announced pre-game that KJ Costello is healthy and starting, simply swap him in as they are the same price.

Stud RB

Isaiah Spiller ($8,700): Texas A&M (-15) vs. LSU, O/U 63.5 – Although Spiller does have competition in his backfield and from QB Kellen Mond, I think this is a game where the Aggies ride their star RB all the way to the bank. Now squarely in the national spotlight thanks to a sky high ranking in the initial CFP release this week, TAMU will be focused on not falling flat on its face against a now-perceived terrible defense. With more challenging defenses ahead, assuming postponed games get played, I’m thinking the Aggies play it vanilla and feed Spiller a heavy workload.

Value RB

Isaih Pacheco ($6,800): Rutgers (+11) vs. Purdue, O/U 61 – Pacheco is the lead dog for the Scarlet Knights, and although the team tends to be overlooked, he still tends to shine through. Rutgers hasn’t been particularly efficient and Purdue has been rather stout against the run, so this one is not exactly logical. But on a slate this large, he’ll be very lowly owned, so if he does explode you’ll have a big tournament advantage.

Stud WR

Chris Olave ($8,800): Ohio State (-27.5) vs. Illinois, O/U 72 – Justin Fields has keyed-in on his top receivers Olave and Garrett Wilson ($9,700) almost exclusively this season. Both are likely to have huge game – and as the Buckeyes look to dominate games to impress the CFP Committee, expect the score to continue climbing even if the game is out of reach. In just 4 games on the season, Olave already has 2 multi-TD games and 3 games over 100 yards. I’m looking for him to hit both those benchmarks this week.

Value WR

Whop Philyor ($7,300): Indiana (-12) vs. Maryland, O/U 64– Although Philyor’s teammate Ty Fryfogle has had the massive games so far this season, he’s priced way up ($10,000) whereas Philyor’s price hasn’t really been impacted. The Indiana offense has been really impressive this season, even against top-flight defenses, and now gets a Maryland defense ranked 120^th in EPA/pass. It’s a great opportunity for Philyor to have his explosion game. There are many great options in this range and think the ideal lineup likely features 2 or 3 WRs from this range and load up on higher-priced QBs and RBs.
