Monday Morning Manager: So Now What?

Where do we go from here and for how long?

TCU Baseball at UTA | Globe Life Stadium, Arlington, TX | March 19, 2019
Last fall, the Frogs shut down Globe Life Park, in front of a mostly empty stadium. Little did we know, it was a harbinger of things to come.

Oh, somewhere in this favored land the sun is shining bright;

The band is playing somewhere, and somewhere hearts are light,

And somewhere men are laughing, and somewhere children shout;

But there is no joy in Mudville—mighty Casey has struck out.

How do you put into perspective what the world is experiencing right now? How do you weigh losing sports with the spread of a global pandemic? What do we hold on to when the distractions are we are housebound with only streaming services and replays of old games to save us?

The world is different today, as we wake up on a Monday hoping for some sense of normalcy after our world changed. Starting last Thursday, we saw an unbelievable 48 hours of news, as one-by-one leagues emptied arenas, cancelled games, and delayed or outright cancelled seasons. That preceded school closings and colleges sending students home as we were introduced to terms like social distancing while clearing out aisles of toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

Needless to say, it’s been a crazy few days.

Here at Frogs O’ War, we will do our best to keep you informed and entertained over the next few days/weeks/months that we are without live sports competitions. We have lots of fun ideas cooked up and will try and have something for you to read regularly. This is a new normal for us, too, and as we try and manage working from home, dealing with our families, and washing our hands constantly, we will try and give you something to enjoy and distract as well.

There may not be much joy at Schollmaier Arena, at Lupton Stadium, or the many venues across campus where students train and compete and fans cheer them on as they do so. But we can all hope that things return to normalcy, or the new normal, soon.

Until then, we have a chance to relive some great moments ahead and take a good look at what might be in the future.
