We’re down to four incredible moments. Who will advance to the final?

It has been a long road to this point, but we still have more voting to do. Voting for the Final Four will be open until Monday at noon! Four more teams fell in the Elite 8, and they were:

#3 Luken Baker College World Series Home Run vs. Tech

#3 LT Rushes for 406 vs. UTEP

#4 TCU Walks-Off A&M

#5 Andy Dalton Rose Bowl TD

That leaves four teams left. Two incredible matchups to decide who goes to the finals. Let’s check them out.

Semifinal #1

#1 Immaculate Deflection (Patterson Region Winner) vs. #2 Catch-22 (Schlossnagle Region Winner)

Immaculate Deflection

Round 1: def. #16 No More Fireworks (357 votes to 23 votes)

Round 2: def. #8 Schultz HR vs. Texas (718 votes to 590 votes)

Sweet 16: def. #5 Peach Bowl Double-Pass (347 votes to 57 votes)

Elite 8: def. #3 Luken Baker CWS HR vs. Tech (339 votes to 67 votes)

TCU entered the Rose Bowl as an underdog to a Wisconsin team that had been absolutely railing opponents with a dominant ground game. Most national pundits thought TCU would get run all over because of their undersized defense. But for the majority of the game TCU and Gary Patterson, led by Tank Carder, kept the Badgers at bay.

A late 4th quarter touchdown drive put Wisconsin to within two at 21-19. Bret Bielema’s team opted to go for two, and after a drive that featured gashing runs, pretty much everyone in the universe expected a run play from the Badgers.

Instead, we got this:

Catch-22

Round 1: def. #15 Kenny Hustle dunk vs. WVU (270 votes to 16 votes)

Round 2: def. #7 Jet TD vs. Ohio State (296 votes vs. 72 votes)

Sweet 16: def. #3 Bane, TCU upset Kansas (280 votes to 105 votes)

Elite 8: def. #5 Andy Dalton Rose Bowl TD (242 votes to 102 votes)

We probably all remember where we were for this one. TCU and Texas Tech had absolutely dazzled us with an offensive back-and-forth competition that had both fanbases reeling. The two teams combined for 1,357 yards and 14 touchdowns.

And in the end, it looked like Tech was going to win. The Frogs had one last shot, and Boykin’s pass to Doctson was tipped. Tech fans rejoiced.

But then, Aaron Green swooped in and saved the day.

Semifinal #2

#1 Matt Curry CWS Grand Slam (Dixon Region Winner) vs. #2 Bram Alamo Bowl TD (Pebley Region Winner)

Matt Curry CWS Grand Slam

Round 1: def. #16 MBB def. Baylor to win SWC (312 votes to 11 votes)

Round 2: def. #9 Denzel Johnson Alamo Bowl Deflection (185 votes vs. 48 votes)

Sweet 16: def. #4 #BoykinFlip (274 votes to 97 votes)

Elite 8: def. #3 LT for 406 (214 votes to 165 votes)

We have a couple other home runs in the Best Moments Bracket. This might be the biggest one.

Facing elimination, down 7-5, two outs, full count, top of the 8th inning, Matt Curry launched a ball into orbit that legitimately might not have come back to earth yet. There are a couple of things to take note of here.

First, Curry had been crushing baseballs all season long. He finished with 18 home runs and 26 doubles, slugging .667 on the year. Missing a pitch to Curry essentially doomed the opposing pitcher, so while this was a massive, massive moment - he had been making people pay for their mistakes all season. Hanging a curveball wasn’t the way to go right here.

Second, outfielders are taught that if you lose the ball in the air, or know it’s going out, to at least pretend you’re going to catch it to throw off the runners on base. This poor centerfielder tries his best, but everyone and their mothers knew that ball wasn’t staying in Rosenblatt.

Lastly, has anyone run the bases on a dinger faster than Curry did? It’s like he hit it into the corner and was legging out an inside the park home run.

What a moment.

Bram mixes it up with TD run vs. Oregon

Round 1: def. #15 Ryan Merrill Walks-Off A&M (331 votes to 38 votes)

Round 2: def. #10 Morrison 8-pitch complete game (259 votes to 34 votes)

Sweet 16: def. #3 Dawson Pick-6 (222 votes to 164 votes)

Elite 8: def. #4 TCU Walks-Off Texas A&M (246 votes to 135 votes)

The TCU-Oregon Alamo Bowl has been talked about by Frog fans so much, there’s almost nothing left to say about it. Bram Kohlhausen will always be a legend because of his performance in this one, and his third overtime touchdown run was TCU’s winning score.
