Football:
TCU’s radio crew had the best football call in the state last season | The Star-Telegram
We are so lucky to have such an awesome radio crew.
TCU had the best live sports play-by-play call in the state last year.
The Texas Associated Press Broadcasters named TCU’s football call during the Horned Frogs’ 34-13 victory at Purdue as the top broadcast in the major market category.
It’s the 13th time since 2003 for TCU to receive the award.
Cal Football: Previewing the Bears’ 2020 Opponents - Game 2: TCU Horned Frogs | Sports Illustrated
If this game happens, their predicting a Cal win... hmm...
Strengths: TCU returns a pair first-team All-Big 12 defensive players in Moehrig and Wallow. The Horned Frogs had a total of four first-team selections last season on defense — no other Big 12 teams had more than two. TCU led the conference in fewest yards allowed (336.9) and was second in interceptions (16). . . . Wells is regarded as one of the best tight ends in the Big 12 after earning second-team all-conference honors.
Weaknesses: The offense must improve. Duggan and the TCU passing game ranked last in the Big 12 in both completion percentage (53.4) and yards per attempts (6.2) and second-to-last in passing yards (203.7 per game) and passing TDs (15). . . . The Horned Frogs must replace their two most productive running backs after the graduation of Darius Anderson and Sewo Oloniula, who combined to rush for 1,360 yards and 14 TDs. . . . Only two offensive line starters return.
Poll: Who will be TCU’s leading rusher in 2020? | Horned Frog Blitz
Max Duggan is not an option on the poll, but...
Left on the roster is a ton of youth at the position. Headlining the group are two very talented redshirt freshmen in Darwin Barlow and Daimarqua Foster. Barlow rushed for over 5,700 yards and scored 93 touchdowns during his high school career and led Newton to two state championships. Barlow saw the field in three games last season as a true freshman and rushed for 99 yards on 22 carries. He also scored one touchdown.
Foster was another highly-touted back in the nation in the 2019 class, ranked as the No. 8 running back in the country by 247Sports. Foster put up video game numbers in high school as he rushed for over 6,700 yards and scored 100 rushing touchdowns. He became the city of Wichita Falls all-time leading rusher. Foster appeared in one game in 2019, rushing for 66 yards and a score on 8 carries against Kansas.
Patterson is once again a voice of reason.
Some FBS leagues have been meeting by conference call daily since the crisis began. Cancellation of the season has been on the minds of those stakeholders, but one stressed that planning to play is the priority.
”I’m not worried [about not playing football],” said TCU coach Gary Patterson, who is also the current AFCA president. “We can only do what we can do. I would suspect that, if they have to cut back the season, people are going to lose their nonconference games. That’s one theory out there. That hurts the lower levels for financial reasons. Everybody is going to have to pay a price.”
