Football:
I don’t think we will be playing in front of fans in California on September 5th. And that makes me sad.
“We have talked and agreed that we need to look at all potential options with regards to our scheduled game,” Donati said. “We both have every intention of playing and I expect the situation will become clear in the next 30-45 days.”
“I don’t think we’re going to be going to football games or Warriors games in the near future,” Chan said last week, according to the East Bay Citizen.
That, of course, would include the scheduled Cal-TCU game on Sept. 5. An option may be hosting the game without fans, or changing venues.
Donati said it’s too early to talk about switching the location of the game but, if necessary, the schools would be willing to go down that route.
“We’re both willing to look at other viable options,” Donati said. “Our conversations will be ongoing throughout the spring and summer.
“Everything is on the table.”
Someone is going to end up with a steal.
What would be his role? In the unlikely event that Niang’s recovery from hip surgery last October forces him to spend the 2020 season on the sidelines, he would serve as the Patriots’ fourth option at offensive tackle behind Wynn, Cannon and Cajuste. While this likely means that his playing time would be limited to mostly preseason, special teams or emergency work, starting his career as a depth option would actually be a good scenario for Niang: not only there not be a need for him to rush back after his hip injury, he also would be given time to clean up his pass protection technique.
How many downs can he play? Niang, who started 27 games at TCU, should be able to contribute on all four downs at the next level. As noted above, however, his career might start in reserve capacity which in turn would likely limit his actual impact during his rookie campaign: whenever he is on the game day roster in 2020, he would primarily be used in as a situation-specific third/fourth tackle and in the kicking game. That said, he does offer starter-upside and therefore potential to play more downs than just the occasional one.
Vikings draft profile: TCU WR Jalen Reagor | Fox Sports
With Diggs traded, Reagor to Minnesota makes a ton of sense.
HOW HE FITS
Reagor’s athleticism pops off the screen and that has to be appealing to any NFL team in need of a wide receiver. One of those receiver-needy teams happens to be the Vikings and Reagor, with his speed, elusiveness and versatility, could be an ideal partner for Adam Thielen on the perimeter. The former TCU star has the ability to make plays in all sorts of different ways on offense and can make an early impact as a returner.
Such a sad story.
“It’s been tough,” Williams said. “Reggie was like a son to me. A great kid, very humble, worked hard. Was one of the top academic students, as well as football players.”
Cole walked on at TCU, and played in one game for the Horned Frogs in 2018. He was a running back and safety at Dallas Carter, and was a two-time All-District player. He was voted as the team’s most valuable player in his final two seasons. He also player track & field and tennis at Dallas Carter.
Williams said he went to be with Cole’s father on Friday night. The coach and the family reminisced on “the good old days.”
“I know the family, and they trusted me with Reggie,” Williams said. “I’ve been over there several times, and have a real good relationship with his dad. ... It was just, just the thought of not seeing Reggie again. That was the tough part about it.”
