Running back Zach Evans could be a game changer for TCU | 247

Bud Elliott is on board with the Evans risk.

Bud: If RB still mattered in the NFL Draft, if this was 10 years ago, he is a no-doubt five-star for us even with the off-field stuff. But with the devaluation of the position and those issues, he was just outside for us at No. 33 on the Top247. His game is special. His stop-start for his size is nice. He’s what, 210 pounds? He can run through arm tackles, catch the ball some. When he plays, he plays and produces. If TCU gets him on the field consistently, I don’t think there is another back on the roster who can start over him. Natural ability wise, he’s the guy.

Barton: The production is there. He averaged over 12 yards/carry, pretty absurd. He played at a high level in big games. But he’s been suspended multiple times and has had a lot of other weird stuff go on. We have to see how it plays out, but certainly a big get for TCU. In many ways, it’s like “what do they have to lose?” If it works out, this is the type of talent that doesn’t often commit to TCU. They lose two really good backs and this could work out. There are places he could have landed where it might not make sense, but this one does. With the opportunity and coaching staff there, and the talent, let’s see if he gets on the field next fall.

TCU offers Kentucky 2022 QB Gavin Wimsatt | Horned Frog Blitz

The Frogs have offered five QBs for ‘22, and three are out of state.

Wimsatt had a huge sophomore campaign in 2019. In 14 starts, he racked up over 3,300 yards of offense and accounted for 43 touchdowns. As a passer, Wimsatt completed 192-of-351 passes for 2,792 yards with 31 touchdowns while adding another 564 yards with 12 scores on the ground.

He led his team to a 12-2 record, advancing to the state semifinals.

Owensboro head coach Jay Fallin told 247Sports national writer Steve Wiltfong earlier in the week that Wimsatt has exceptional tools for the position.

“A special young man,” Fallin told Wiltfong. “Rocket for an arm, strongest I’ve ever been around, blazing-fast also. Also a great kid.”

TCU eyeing Frisco Liberty TE Connor Hulstein | Horned Frog Blitz

TCU will need to replace some time top targets at the position next year.

Others including TCU are beginning to show the talented athlete increased attention.

“It (recruiting) is going very well,” he said. “I’ve had a lot of coaches follow and message me. I’m getting a lot of communication from UTSA, Texas State, Air Force, Yale, Princeton, and Harvard, who have all offered. I am also hearing a lot from Northwestern and TCU but they have not offered.”

TCU is looking to add a tight end for their 2021 recruiting class. The Frogs will lose Artyavious Lynn at the conclusion of the 2020 season and Pro Wells and Carter Ware will both be seniors in 2021.

Hulstein, who also boasts a 42-inch vertical, says the Frogs like his ability to go up and get the ball.
