In the 20 years that Gary Patterson has called Fort Worth home, he has had an enormous impact on TCU Football, and the University as a whole. But with the help of his Gary Patterson Foundation, Coach P and his wife Kelsey have been exponentially more valuable to the Fort Worth community as a whole.

Dedicated to supporting children through a variety of grant and scholarship opportunities, the foundation has been been instrumental in feeding families during the holidays, providing books and technology to local schools, creating after school programs and in school art and music appreciation, and generally caring for the young people that are a part of FWISD. Additionally, Gary Patterson’s Foundation has been instrumental in providing aid during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Now, they will take their work virtual, holding an online event titled Celebrate Community, on June 4th. Gary and Kelsey Patterson are raising funds to fill the gap for organizations who planned to be supported through the attendance of the Charles Schwab Challenge this June, which will now take place with no spectators. Celebrate Community will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County, The First Tee of Fort Worth, and other community projects.

According to a press release:

The event promises an unforgettable virtual experience. Viewers will have exclusive access to PGA golfers, former TCU football players, and fabulous performances by some of Fort Worth’s favorite musicians. The virtual event is available to the public to celebrate community, while increasing awareness and raising funds for children and families throughout Fort Worth.

“Kelsey and I have had the great pleasure of serving our community for the past 20 years and now more than ever, children need our support,” said Gary Patterson, Chairman of The Gary Patterson Foundation. “We love Fort Worth and are proud of the virtual experience we are able to bring to your home as we make a big impact with good friends and talented musicians and athletes.”

Gary and Kelsey are longtime supporters and fans of the Charles Schwab Challenge and felt compelled to find a way to donate resources to the charities who typically benefit from the event’s spectators. With funds raised through Celebrate Community, young people will have the opportunity to participate in The First Tee’s Life Skills Curriculum and its Nine Core Values through the game of golf, thereby instilling life enhancing values that encourage leadership, build character, foster community service and promote wellness. The event will also support the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Tarrant County whose mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

“The Charles Schwab Challenge is an integral part of the spirit of Fort Worth and we are honored to give back to charities working to empower children in our community,” said Michael Tothe, Tournament Director for the Charles Schwab Challenge. “We greatly appreciate Gary and Kelsey stepping up to bridge the gap of fundraising for these very deserving organizations in the Birdies for Charity Program.”

The Celebrate Community virtual event will be held on June 4, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. CST and can be accessed here: https://www.pattersonfoundation.org/celebrate-community. Sponsorship opportunities are available; please contact Micki Howe at info@pattersonfoundation.org.
