The TCU Horned Frogs defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils at the Coast-to-Coast Challenge on Saturday night, with a final score of 79-59. Micah Peavy achieved the third triple-double in program history and played a crucial role in overcoming a 14-point deficit in the second half.
Peavy finished the night with 13 points, a career-high 12 rebounds, and a career-high 10 assists. TCU started slow and was down by 14 points with 10 minutes remaining in the first half. The Frogs managed to cut the deficit and trailed by four points going into the locker room, with a score of 30-26.
An opening dunk from Emanuel Miller in the second half set the tone for the rest of the game. Miller led the team with 18 points, six rebounds and two assists. Jameer Nelson Jr. added 11 points, two rebounds and one assist.
The Sun Devils received two technical fouls, one on the Arizona State bench and the second on coach Bobby Hurley. Miller made all four free-throw shots, bringing the score to 41-38. The Sun Devils would not take the lead again for the remainder of the game.
Peavy sank a 3-pointer that gave TCU a six-point lead with 18 seconds left on the clock. Peavy joined Kurt Thomas and Kenrich Williams as the only three Frogs to score a triple-double in TCU program history. Not bad for a guy who graduated the morning prior to the game.
The 8-1 Horned Frogs will hit the road to take on the Old Dominion Monarchs on Thursday, December 21st. Tip-off is at 4 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
